Sarah Magee, a Fairfield Ludlowe High School senior and student liaison to the Fairfield’s Earth Day Celebration Committee, is chairing the committee for our first Arts Contest. Sarah came up with up with idea and felt it would be a fun way to get more students interested and engaged with the topics of the environment and sustainability.
The theme of the contest is “I can make a difference by…” with the submission relating to the environment and/or sustainability. The art categories for submission include Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Arts are encouraged to submit their entries via email and/or upload to YouTube. Information on each arts category and how to submit electronically are listed within the Rules on the Arts Contest page. Boxes to submit physical copies are located at all Fairfield Public Schools, the Fairfield Public Library Main and Fairfield Woods branches and the Pequot Library.
ALL entrants will receive a coupon voucher from a Fairfield business along with an official Certificate of Participation. Awards will be given to the top winners of each arts and age category. ALL entries will be displayed at the Fairfield’s Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 26, 2014 held 10am-4pm at Fairfield Warde High School, 755 Melville Avenue, Fairfield, CT 06825. An awards ceremony will be held on the main stage at 12:30pm. All entries are expected to be retrieved at the event. Any entries not picked up then will be held until May 30, 2014.
